No matter where my career has taken me Cinema has always remained a passion. Passion is the repeated experience of joy in doing something. When one discovers passion, it is usually because an activity seems to produce joy each time it is performed. Normally, there is a diminishing return on the joy associated with an activity. Not so when passion is present. The activity produces a surprising and satisfying amount of joy, again and again. Passion is a meta-emotion—an emotion that is felt only after observing other emotions over time. Passion is present when you observe that the same activity consistently brings you joy. For me the shared experience of cinema cannot be rivalled.  But I am equally passionate that the whole experience from the advertising & marketing, the visit to the theatre, the staff, presentation, the picture and sound the wash-rooms all meet the highest standards possible. Having worked at theatres that entertain royalty, I will always strive to treat every last patron royally. Returning to my roots. The first 12 years of my working career were spent in the cinema in an age of fearsome chief projectionists and even more formidable ODEON managers, it was a time when matriculate attention to detail was the norm, and every manager was acutely aware of the impact attendance made to the profitability of his business unit. Showmanship was a byword in the projection room and front of house.  These days technological advances in audio, digital projection, large format screens, 3D, High Frame Rates, livecasts are all creating a fantastic opportunity for a new audience- centric experience. Yet sadly so many multiplex units today have all the excitement and theatricality of a visit to LIDL’s. I will endeavour to do everything possible to engage my audience, educate and entertain. To provide an enjoyable, clean pleasant and safe experience. I caught the cinema bug young and the biggest treats as a child always seemed to revolve around the big screen.  Seeing Great Expectations, Hamlet, the opera Madam Butterfly are all testament to how important my school saw cinema as part of the curriculum. God willing I probably have a good 15 years of work ahead of me, It would be a real privilege to spend that time in a job that I love.
